: (Shane III). Shane's notes on seventy interviews which he recorded in various areas of Kentucky, accompanied by an index of names of his informants. Although mainly undated, a few of his notes indicate that the conversations were held in 1842. The hundreds of names and topics appearing in the interviews are covered in the published calendar. Only occasional annotations were made by Draper in this volume.
