It's About Time Films, 1966

Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of 4 episodes from the half-hour-long television comedy program It's About Time, which aired on CBS from 1966 to 1967. The films include episodes from the first half of the show's only season. The first half of the season told the story of astronauts Mac (Frank Aletter) and Hector (Jack Mullany), who accidentally travel back in time to the Stone Age. While trying to repair their ship, they befriend caveman Gronk (Joe E. Ross), his wife Shad (Imogene Coca), and their children Mlor (Mary Grace) and Breer (Pat Cardi), as well as a community of cavemen who believe the astronauts are strangers from “the other side of the hill.” The second half of the season told the story of Mac and Hector's return to the 20th century, with Gronk and his family coming along.

While a total of 26 episodes of It's About Time aired on CBS during its one-season run, this collection contains only four of the original episodes from the first half of the show. The second half - with the modern plot arc - is not documented in this collection. All of the reels in this collection are 16 mm prints with sound, in black and white, and have a running time of approximately 20 to 30 minutes. The visual quality of these prints is good overall although the quality differs between individual reels.
