This collection consists of two 16 mm, black and white reels of Edward R. Murrow's CBS Reports installment “Harvest of Shame,” which was originally broadcasted on CBS on November 26, 1960. The documentary shows the degradation and exploitation of millions of migratory farm workers in the United States, and reveals the suffering of and inhumanities against the agricultural workers and their impoverished families. Spokesmen for various groups present their views both for and against the use of migratory workers under the conditions seen. Televised to millions of Americans the day after Thanksgiving to better tap into their emotions, this documentary led to permanent changes in the laws protecting worker' rights and set the tone for a generation of investigative journalists. “Harvest of Shame” was the final documentary of Murrow's career.
