Cooperative Extension County Agent records

Scope and Contents

The records in this collection consist of narrative weekly and monthly reports that provide details into the agricultural work that County Agents were completing around Wisconsin. Traditionally, the three types of agents that most counties had were agricultural agents, home economists, and 4-H agents, as the needs of counties changed, different types of agents were employed to provide the services needed.

The reports include details of the farms visited, educational topics, county group meeetings, and other work. County groups included Boys and Girls Clubs (now known as 4-H) and other speciality groups related to specific agricultural topics (e.g., groups related to raising dairy cattle). Some reports include newspaper articles or county newsletters written by the County Agents.

The reports primarly date from 1926 and 1951-1953. The exception being for Waukesha County, which has reports from their Recreation County Agent until 1967.
