	Series: 6: War History Commission, 1910-1925 Scope and Content Note: The Wisconsin War History Commission was created to preserve a record of Wisconsin's effort during the war. Acting first as an extension of the Milwaukee County Council of Defense, the War History Commission continued on its own for several years after the war ended and the Council of Defense had ceased operations. The Milwaukee Public Library served as the repository for Milwaukee County with William E. Jillson as its representative. This series is comprised of materials specifically collected by the Commission and contains correspondence, ephemera, soldier lists, photographs, and documents on the efforts of local organizations. There are also materials from soldiers, such as correspondence, experiences, and diaries, that the Commission collected as part of its mission.
