Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP) collection

Scope and Contents

The Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP) collection contains a wide array of photos, film, digital media, documents, books, flyers, newspapers, magazines, artwork, and pamphlets related to events and program administration. This collection is representative of several decades of art in Wisconsin as it relates to nonprofessional artists. The artists in residency program encouraged and interacted with amateur artists, becoming one of the main attractions for WRAP members allowing the tradition to persist.

The WRAP collection can be divided into the following sections: events, artists, and collecting practices. The event programs describe exhibitions, art lessons, learning programs, and conferences. The events led or funded by WRAP were produced for both adults and youth. The collection also contains biographies, obituaries, artists' statements, and show announcements for professionals and amateur artists affiliated with the program. Two professional artists that worked extensively with WRAP are Aaron Bohrod and John Steuart Curry. Many of the artists or members of WRAP created images that were featured in calendars or other publications in addition to being hung in various places across campus.
