Scope and Contents

UW Organ and Tissue Donation is an organ procurement program that was established in 1966 and is part of UW Health. It is also affiliated with the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), and is federally designated to provide service to 108 hospitals in Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois. This collection, containing materials from 1970 to 2016, includes training and promotional materials produced by UW Organ and Tissue Donation on VHS and DVD, event planning documents for the Douglas T. Miller Symposia, symposia and conference booklets, training and user manuals for systems and machines used by the department, photos of staff, photos and videos from the 2010 National Kidney Foundation U.S. Transplant Games held in Madison (WI), perfusion machines used by the department in training, as well as the first diagnostic tool to assist health care professionals in evaluating potential for donation after cardiac death (DCD).
