The collection contains correspondence from individuals of varying professions that
were collected by Milwaukee Public Library. Much of the correspondence was done in
the course of regular MPL business, typically regarding speaking engagements or
appearances. Most folders only contain one or two letters from the individual,
although sometimes there is more than that. There are some instances where MPL
correspondence is present as well. A few folders also contain additional information
such as photographs or book lists that were added by MPL staff, while a few are
signed photographs only. The Howard Mumford Jones folder only contains telegrams and
does not contain his signature.
