Tom Shick papers

Scope and Contents

The collection is primarily paper materials generated by Tom Shick's academic research and teaching activities, his participation in campus life, and his roles in various professional and social organizations. With the exception of Box 17, which contains photographic slides, Boxes 1 through 24 contain paper materials. The remainder of the collection, non-paper research such as photos, speeches, and interviews, is contained in sound recordings, files on flexible disks, and other audiovisual formats. A large part of the paper materials are research materials, drafts, and manuscripts of Shick's publications. Research materials include maps, articles, interviews, and IBM data sheets. The collection contains personal as well as professional correspondence, such as consulting materials, dissertations, book reviews, and research award applications. Papers related to Shick's professorship include course materials, lectures, tenure evaluation, and records of the Afro-American Studies Department, department memos in particular. Several folders relate to the Athletic Board. Other conferences and organizations are also represented by minutes, proceedings, travel information, and miscellaneous records.
