Marvin Sukov papers, 1935-1971

Scope and Content Note

The Sukov papers consists of correspondence about the creation and management of Sukov's personal collection of little magazines. Most of the collection is correspondence from different little magazines to Sukov, arranged alphabetically by the magazine's title. Other correspondence in the collection include letters from UW-Madison about the purchase of the collection and with art galleries about selling select issues. There is some correspondence with booksellers, publishers, and other private collectors to obtain specific issues for his collection. There is a small amount of newspaper clippings and articles, some of which were written by Felix Pollak, the curator of UW-Madison at the time, who helped organize the acquisiton of Sukov's little magazines. The collection also includes dozens of photographs of famous libraries that was donated by Sukov in 1975. The images were orginally on display in Memorial Library in Room 364. They have been de-framed and placed into boxes.
