This collection includes approximately 1000 handwritten letters to and from Linda M.
French, dated 1890 to 1921. The main body of letters, with envelopes, are primarily part of
a regular weekly correspendence with her parents, Zenas Aaron French and Lucy B. French at
the family home and farm in Holbrook. Letters detail her experiences as a single working
woman in New York City in the period before and during the first World War. Included with
the correspondence are bills; correspondence from several department stores; postcards in
German, some cards from vacation spots in Europe, and newspaper clippings.
