Scope and Contents

This collection includes approximately 1000 handwritten letters to and from Linda M. French, dated 1890 to 1921. The main body of letters, with envelopes, are primarily part of a regular weekly correspendence with her parents, Zenas Aaron French and Lucy B. French at the family home and farm in Holbrook. Letters detail her experiences as a single working woman in New York City in the period before and during the first World War. Included with the correspondence are bills; correspondence from several department stores; postcards in German, some cards from vacation spots in Europe, and newspaper clippings.
