Linda M. French was born in approximately 1880 and was raised in Holbrook, Massachusetts.
French attended Boston University and was as apart of Phi Beta Kappa as a student. She
graduated in 1902. She then spent a year in Germany with Frau Doktor Meyer in Holliches
Ufer, Berlin. French returned to the US and taught at the Mulholland School in San Antonio,
Texas and at Ansonia High School, Ansonia, Connecticut. After moving to New York City in
1912, French taught briefly in the Bronx and then at Curtis High School, Staten Island from
1913 to 1921. French taught German, and likely, Spanish. During her time in New York, French
expressed interest in the suffrage movement and communicated with her family about her
opinions and involvment.
