Milwaukee Public Library receives official materials from city departments via
the Milwaukee City Records Center, pursuant to state statutes and city
ordinances governing the permanent retention of city records. Additional
materials were donated by Frank Zeidler at an unknown. The collection was
initially accessioned in Local History Manuscripts but was transferred to City
Archives in 2018.
This collection was originally processed by Thomas Reilly in 1983 in combination
with Frank Zeidler's personal papers under Local History Manuscript Collection
(LHMC) 352. It was updated by Gayle Ecklund in 2008 and 2013. In 2018, Bob
Jaeger separated the Carl Zeidler materials and added further materials into
Carl's mayoral collection within City of Milwaukee Archival Collection (CMAC)
44. In 2020, after identifying additional unprocessed materials, Carl's personal
papers from CMAC 44 were removed and LHMC 311 was created, also by Bob
Jaeger.
