John D. Buenker served as a professor of history at UW-Parkside from 1971-2003 and
held the position of department chair. He is now honored as professor emeritus. His
areas of scholarship include ethnic history and immigration, as well as aspects of
American social history and progressivism. The prolific author published books on
national and local history topics, including Those United States : international perspectives on American history (2000), with
Gerald Greenfield; and Income Tax and the Progressive Era (1985). He has held various offices on the now-defunct UW-Parkside
Friends of the Library Board.
