In 1978, the Parkside Archives received a grant of the National Historical
Publications and Records Commission to conduct a survey of non-current records of
businesses in Racine and Kenosha. This survey was conducted in two phases. The first
phase involved businesses with more than 100 employees such as J.I. Case, S.C.
Johnson, and American Motors Corporation. The second phase surveyed business with
50-100 employees, financial institutions and companies no longer in business.
