The UWM Feminist Center was established in 1974 as a reorganization of the Campus Women's
(Information) Center. It functioned as a component of Milwaukee's feminist community through
the 1980s and organized rallies for women's rights, presented films and workshops to schools
and community groups, sponsored cultural activities with feminist musicians and artists,
provided a resource library for students and community members, and made referrals to local
agencies in areas such as contraception, abortion, healthcare, divorce, and sex
discrimination.
