Howard R. Dunham was born on February 9, 1912 in Milwaukee. He spent his early life in
Wauwatosa and graduated from high school there. He graduated from the Milwaukee State
Teachers College in 1934. He received a Masters of Music degree from Northwestern
University. He came to Kenosha in 1944 and was Kenosha High School's first band director.
After leaving Kenosha High School in 1955, he became Elementary Band director, a position he
held until his retirement in 1977. Howard Dunham died in Kenosha on December 7, 1980.
