morning. Hackett was conscious up to a short time previous to his death. He suffered greatly. The injury to his spine was of such a nature that recovery was impossible. He was 31 years old. The Martin & Wester Foundry and Plow Works. All that remained standing of the Martin & Wester Foundry was the foundry's chimney. The building was built in 1866, and was a total loss at $4,000. The foundry building was rebuilt and eventually torn down in 1976. The Dairy Queen restaurant now occupies this location. The brick building to the left of the foundry was the Chair Company Apartment complex which remains standing to this day.
