Township Records
FIRST TOWN RECORD
Ordinance creating the town of Frankfort November 11,
1889.
The board of supervisors of the county of Marathon do
hereby ordain as follows: #1 All territory embraced in
Township number twenty-eight (28) north of range number
three (3) east is hereby detached and set off from the town of
Wien in said Marathon County and organized into a new town
to be designated as the town of Frankfort. #2 The first town
meeting of said town of Frankfort shall be held in school house
number 1 in section 11 in Township 28 Range 3 East on the
first Tuesday in April 1890.
The annual election was held in and for the town of
Frankfort, Marathon County, Wisconsin at the school house
in District No. 1 in Section 11 Range 3 East on the 1st day of
April 1890.
The following officers were oppointed with Ed Protze as
Chairman.

The first town board meeting was held on the 5th day of
April 1890. The following overseers of highways were
appointed. #3 Road District:

#4 John Fandre
#5 John 0. Steen
#6 Jacob Christiansen
#7 John Prosser
#8 J. Flack
#9 Fred Fylaskie
#10 Care of Town Board
The following are some of the resolutions adopted at the
first annual meeting:
Motion to pay chairman $35.00 per year, supervisors $25.00
per year, clerk $60.00 per year, assessor $30.00 per year.
Resolved to raise town fund of $250.00 and resolved to raise
poor fund of $50.00. Highway tax to be 7 mills on the dollar.
Highway to raise $250.00 for bridge fund to build a bridge
between Sec. 14 and 23. Resolved to hold the annual town elec-
tion in School District #1 SE corner of section 11 for the year
of 1891.
