"Ride along with us.. When the First National Bank opened its doors in 1870, Appleton boasted a population of 4,518. Today, with over 45,000 people and great industrial might, Appleton stands as a shining example of what progressive, industrious and civic minded people can do when they work together. And the First National Bank stands as an example of what honest, far sighted people can do when they plan and grow with their community. The bank's first president, Augustus Ledyard Smith brought the bank into being with $60,000 in deposits and $30,000 in loans with a capi- talization of $50,000.00. Today, 87 years later, capital funds exceed $2,500,000.00 and the bank has over 8,000 checking accounts, 13,000 savings accounts with more than $38,000,000.00 in deposits. Yes, as Appleton celebrates its 100th birthday, we are proud to be serving this dynamic city and grateful for the opportunity to help it prosper through financial services to the community.
