IVES GROVE TROTTING PARK. This Park is located on section 12, on
the farm of Mr. John Bush, and is owned and controlled by him.
As early as x849, when the country was comparatively new, Mr.
Bush turned his attention to the improvement of trotting horses,
and is the first person in the west who undertook the business. He
has persistently followed it from that time to the present. "Old
Bellfounder," the sire of "Westeren Girl," (formerly Angeline,)
"Hero," and a host of other celebrated trotters, were reared
him at this place. He is the present proprietor of the well known
stallion "Geo. M. Patchen," celebrated for strength and
speed. The Park is finely fitted up with a suitable number of
good and comfortable stalls and has one of the best half mile tracks
in the State. No where in the country can be found a better place
adapted to the business than at this Park, and in no better hands
can be intrusted the trotting stock of the West for training, than
in those of Mr. Bush and his experienced assistants.
