was born at Canton, St. Lawrence County, N. V., on Feb. 22, 1852, and came
to Marinette, Marinette County, Wisconsin, in August, 1869, where he has
lived ever since.  Mr. Reed was one of the survivors of the great Peshtigo
Fire on October 8, 1871, in which so many perished. He was batdlly burned
about the hands and feet from which he did not recover for two years after.
 Mr. Reed was married to Matilda Juhre, of Hustisford. Dodge County, at Marinette.
Wisconsin on August 21, 1880. To them were born four daughters, Mrs. W. C.,
Ozanne, of Racioe, Wis., Mrs. John E Jacobson of Marinette, Wis., Maybelle
and Elsie Reed, also of Marinette. Mr. 
Reed and family now reside on a farm near Marinette.
