for which the city has been obliged to pay because of its
ownership of land upon one or both sides of the improve-

It should be stated that the foregoing amounts, in cases
where the work is still in progress, are the engineer's esti-
mates, and is supposed to cover the entire cost of the work
which has not yet been finished. This substantially com-
pletes all streets in or adjacent to the parks excepting
Thornton avenue in Tenney Park, the upper end of Burr
Oak Drive and Meadow Drive in Henry Vilas Park and
Warren street adjacent to Henry Vilas Park.
It is to be noted that the total amount expended and to
be expended by the city in acquiring and permanently im-
proving the parks, is less than one-half the amount con-
tributed to the association by its members.
