Evangelical Lutheran Congregation on the Wauwatosa Road, north of Mequon Road of west Mequon, was known and nick- named the "Kuernel Church". It was said the parishioners after service stopped at Wagner's tavern, and the ladies partook of a Kuemmel, a so-called ladies' drink, in the store part, and the men had a drink of whiskey in the tavern.
