OUTAGAMIR COUNTY PIONEER RECORD. I ELIHU SPENCER Elihu Spencer, in the year 1816. ELIHUI SPE the subject of this sketch, was born in In the year 1853 he came to this state and settled in the county of Outagamie. Mr. Spencer is now in his eighty-third year and still enjoys very good health for a person w h o h a s attained his years. He at present resides with his daughter, Mrs. A. F. Bounds, on a part of his old farm near Appleton Junction. For a period of twenty-three years he filled the office of secre- tary of the Outagamie County Pioneer Associ- ation. For fifteen years he was county surveyor f o r itno-amie rnil ntv. While friends at this annual greeting Are pledging their friendships anew I take, at this eighty-third milestone Of my life, a hasty review. I have had many disappointments, Have had heavy burdens to bear, Yet hope has persistently buoyed me Above the dark rocks of despair. Though my path has often been darkened, My mistakes and errors been rife, Goodness and mercy have followed me, Through all the days of my life. To Him who has graciously kept me, And given me fullness of days, Be glory and honor forever, Let all that have breath sound His praise. - - - - - - - -1 . dl ~ .
