** Example Lesson Plan Domestic Domain Brushing Teeth I. Goal: Increase independence in grooming. II. Objective: When requested to by teacher, student will pick up toothbrush, put appropriate amount of toothpaste on brush, and will hold the toothbrush while teacher manipulates student's arm to brush teeth.* III. Materials: toothbrush, toothpaste, water, basin, towel, cup IV. Activity A. Teacher will model how to brush teeth. 1) Unscrew toothpaste cap 2) Squeeze appropriate amount toothpaste onto brush 3) Put cap on toothpaste 4) Pick up brush 5) Brush in up and down motion from one side of mouth to another 6) Brush inside of teeth in up motion 7) Brush back and forth over crowns of teeth 8) Spit out toothpaste 9) Pick up cup and put some water in mouth 10) Rinse mouth with water 11) Spit out excess water 12) Rinse toothbrush in water 13) Put toothbrush away B. Teacher will instruct student to brush his teeth. Teacher will manipulate student's arm to help him brush teeth. *(Specific students' physical limitations require direct physical assistance.) V. Evaluation: Record data on sheet for brushing teeth.
