Sister Mary Candida Francis Schmirler, Daughter of Anton J. Schmirler and Louise Gartman, Town of Frankfort. Received her elementary education at the Franklin School, graduating in 1923. In 1931, she entered the novitiate of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother at Milwaukee. This is also the group that operates the Marshfield St. Joseph's Hospital. She received her high school and internship at this convent. She also trained as a Lab Technologist, as a Baker's Apprentice and manager, and also served as a teacher. Indies Mother House Milwaukee, St. Mary's Hosp. Convent Roswell, NM Mount Mary College Milwaukee, WI A tribute to Sister Candida for a life time of service to the Lord. She is a sister to Father Albert Schmirler. She now lives in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. As a side note to this history, at the time these two left home to enter religious training, rumors had it they had been kidnap- ped by their religious institutions. Reverend Duwayne Schneider Rev. Duwayne Schneider with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Schneider Duwayne Schneider was born to Mr. & Mrs. Lester Schnei- der on July 29, 1938 in the Town of Frankfort, Section 36. He received his elementary education at the Fairchild School, Upham School and Stratford Grade School. He completed four years of high school and two years of college at the Concordia High School and Junior College at Milwaukee. He spent four years in the seminary at Springfield, Illinois. His ordination took place at St. John's High Steeple Church in the Town ofWien in 1965. Reverend Schneider's first congregation was at Brimfield, Illinois where he stayed 2 1/2 years. He then moved to Flinflon, Manitoba Canada for six months. His next congregation was at Boyceville, WI where he stayed 41/2 years. After that he spent eleven years at Fergus Falls, MN. Since October of 1986 he has been serving Saint Luke and Saint Paul Lutheran churches in rural Colby. The Lester Schneider Family Lester and Phyllis have been residents of the Town of Frankfort since 1963. Lester was in the Army Signal Corps and Phyllis in the WAVES Hospital Corps from 1945-47. She has a BA in Education and Library Science and is a retired Librarian (Marshfield). He is a retired farmer. Their children are Stephan and David of Marshfield, Peter of Lakewood, Colorado and Tricia Van Der Leest of Stratford. Lester's parents moved from Sheboygan to Frankfort in 1944. His grandparents came from Germany and were cheese- makers in the area Family of Erwin Schoenrock Erwin Schoenrock has lived in the Town of Frankfort for one year. His children are Kurt, Paul, Erwin Jr. and Lori. Erwin was born in Germany. Kurt is enrolled at UW-Stevens Point and Paul has a machining degree from Antigo Technical School. Mike and Naomi Sebold Mike and Naomi have been residents of the town for fifteen years. Their children are Krista and Jamie. Mike received an Associate Degree in Marketing at NTC in Wausau December 20,1989. He is employed at Someplace Else Tavern and Naomi is employed at St. Joseph's Hospital. The Carl Seeger Family Carl Seeger and Emilie (Rohde) Seeger were born in Ger- many and came to this country in 1881 to Hoboken, New Jersey. They lived in Manawa, Wisconsin and came to the town of Wien in 1902. There were five children: Otto, Paul, Albert, Anna who married George Mueller and Minnie, who married a Baeseman. Herb Seeger Family Herbert purchased the home farm in 1948. He married Mary Welbes ofAthens. They had two girls and two boys. Both Alice and Barbara were married in 1976. Barbara married Jim Spatz and Alice married Norbert Schufter. Herb Jr. operates his own business and lives in Wausau. James works on the farm with his father and lives in Wausau. Both are married. The Otto Seeger Family Otto Seeger was born in Blankinzee, Germany in 1879, married Sophie Hoernke, Town of Frankfort in 1909. They farmed in Section 23, Town of Frankfort. They had two daughters Marie and Margaret and two sons Arnold and George. Arnold was born March 12, 1913. He married Vera Peterson. He has a heating and plumbing busi- ness in Marshfield. George was born March 4, 1919. He is a farmer. Margaret Seeger Wienkauf was born December 10, 1924. She is a housewife and lives in Wausau. Marie Seeger DeGayner was born August 5,1910. She is a teacher in Deming, New Mexico. 106
