0. Larsen, Miss Hattie Erickson, Miss Susan Wettleson,
Miss Annie Forson. Average attendance 5o.
The Norwegian Iutheran church of McFarland was or-
ganized in May, 1875, and is connected with Christ church.
This church edifice was begun in 1869, finished in 1875,
and dedicated January 23, 1876. The society is clear of
debt. Both churches are connected with the Norwegian
Synod of the Lutheran church, and through it with the
Evangelical Lutheran Synodical Conference of North
America.
BAPTIST CHURCH.
The Baptist Church of Stoughton was organized in 1853
and re-organized in 1857. Their house of worship was
erected in 1862, and is a building 35x5o feet with a tower
in front. Repairs have been made at various times and
during the pist summer the interior has been changed from
a plain white to a black-walnut finish giving the house a neat
and comfortable appearance. Mr. Cheney, previous to his
death, donated to the society a house and lot on West Main
street. Since the occupation of it as a parsonage by the
present pastor, new blinds have been placed upon it and the
house has been painted. The following is a list of the pas-
tors who have-been settled with the church and the length
of their pastorate: Rev. L. Mills, three years; Rev. Mr.
Star, one year; Rev. L. Smith, five years; Rev. Mr. Hen-
drick, five years and was ordained here by a council which
met for that purpose; Rev. G. 0. Snell, two years; Rev.
