A granite monument erected by the State of Wisconsin "As a mark of appreciation and gratitude for her loyal sons who suffered on these grounds from March, 1864 to April, 1865 for what they knew to be patriotic princi- ple." The monument is on the site of Anderson Prison in Georgia. A commission of 3 appointed by Governor La- Follette, the governor him- self, and Professor Alexan- der Miller approved the de- sign; and the monument was dedicated October 17, 1907.
