Businesses of Yesterday Photo Courtesy of Clarence Sandgren. The R. Connor Company Store Stratford's first business was the R. Connor Company Store. It was located on the comer of Third and Elm Streets. (Currently Davels). It was started in 1892 out of neccesity for the mill workers and their families. Looking at Gordon Connor's speech used earlier in the book, it seems as if anything one could imagine could be purchased at the store, from corsets to coffins. Photo Courtesy of Verlyn Polster.
