  New York March 25, 1860
My very dear wife
 ________ of Mineral Point is here
and starts for home this evening at 9 o'clock. As a letter
will be likely to reach you ______ by him than by mail
I embrace the opportunity. I reached here last night
at 10 o clock, all right excetp weariness, and that I
find I am getting over, at ____ I ran in to see ______
____, and while taking a cup of tea the train came up, so
I had ot leave my tea and run. I reached Chicago
at 1/2 past 2 morning adn left again at 6. All the next
of the way I travelled straight along. We came through
Canada in the night and crossed the Suspension Bridge
while yet dark.
This morning I arose early took a plain breakfast, and at 9 o
clock went to John Street Church. I was in the _________
School a few moments and they went to a class meeting in
an adjoining room, we had a very profitable meeting. Two of
the men present stated that their parents worshiped in that
Sanctuary over 60 years ago and when children were both
taken there. One of them had been many years a sailor,
after _____ I went up stairs to Church. Heard a most ex-
cellent Sermon from Timothy ______ from the pastor who is a
_____ brother of Bishop _________. This afternoon I have
been at the same place to a Sabbath School __________ at
