Philadelphia U. S. June 1852 My Dear Br__/ Time is not only ever rolling, but doing so rapidly. Look forward to any expected period in you life about which you have anxiety; perhaps you wish it to arrive and it seems as tho' it never would come. But be patient and wait a little. The flying moments are bringing before us the future, at a great speed that thought does not equal. The time that is now present to me, I have often thought about, and wondered if I should ever see it. This was probably natural, for I have been in dangers many and great. Now I am in comparative safety, and able to inform you of the fact. For some time past I have kept you advised of my intentions, and I am thus far on my way. But still in a great strain between two. How I have wished you were all in this country, safe and comfortable. When I started from San Fransisco, it was fully my intention to join you with all possible speed, and return as soon as convenient. At that time I was in most excellent health, and appare_ntly could stand any amount of travel by land, with as little fatigue as any one. Sailing however is another thing, and almost uses me up.
