1876.  Mr. Gissenaas was born in Norway in 1859    Emigrated to United States
in 1869 arid located with his parents in Missouri. 
After three years moved to the copper country in Upper Michigan and two years
latter to Wisconsin.   Received a limited common school education. At the
age of 21 was married to Miss Moria Lyons and two years after her death was
again married to Miss Amelia Otto of 2danitowoc County.   He was the first
Chairman of the Town of Coleman, in Marinette County, the name being later
changed to Pound.   In 1903 was again   elected Chairman.   He is now the
Town Clerk and is also Postmaster, which office he has held since 1889 except
(luring the four years of President Cleveland's administration.  tie is also
an active member of the School Bjard 
in the village.
