ha six Public Schools, knd a magnifioent structure for a Union 
Sehool is now being erected, a Female Seminary and a number 
of first clm private School.. The Wisconsin Institute for the 
Education of the Blind is located here, and is in a very pros- 
perous condition; Mr. W. I. Churchman, President. 
.anesvIe hai, in proportion to its sue, better facilities to ac- 
commodate travelers than any other City in the West. There 
i the Hyatt House, which ws opened in September last, and 
is one of the largest and beat kept west of Chicago. The Ford 
House, CoL 8. ChurchUl, proprietor, is a second elaw house in 
regard to size, hut a first claw house in regard to aocommoda- 
tions and comforts. The American House, 8. Hutmon, propri- 
etor, is an old favorite among the traveling community. The 
Ogden House, IL McKinney, proprietor. The Farm.'s Hotel, 
.1. Bates, proprietor; the Excelmor Hotel, A. Noni  proprie- 
tor,.and the .anesville Stage House, J. M. Burgess, proprietor, 
are all good houses, and give good accommodations fr those 
who cannot afford to pay a firet clam bill. 
The different dcnomluationR are well represented in this 
tity, and the C hurches are all well attended4. of regular organ- 
id Churches there are eight, viz:
