A view of the last operating device in the series used for the continuous casting of steel. Below the mold, pinch rolls control the rate of travel of the casting to the cradle. When the lower end reaches the cradle, the oxy-acetylene torch shown cuts the casting to the desired length, moving along with the casting until the cut is complete. THE WISCONSIN ENGINEER 6
