73. The moderate tendency permeated all levels of the CNT, even the anarchist
weekly Tierra y Libertad.
In a letter addressed to the heads of the Barcelona branch of the FAI, Alfonso
Nieves Nuftez leveled
a vitriolic attack on the editors of Tierra y Libertad for not "wanting
or knowing how to" recognize
the revolutionary moment Spain was experiencing in the early summer of 1936.
He deeply lamented
the "sectarianism" inherent in the FAI and went as far as to threaten
founding a separate anarchist
weekly to "tell all that is not being told by Tierra y Libertad about
the revolutionary moment."
Letter to the Catalan Regional Committee of the FAI, no date, PS Barcelona
1335, AHN-SGC.
