figured by Rumphius, tab. X. fig. 4. who
calls it Limax Marina, in Belgic Zee- Slekke,
and by fome Indian names; by which I
fuppofe it to be found in the Eaft-Indian
iflands. Mine was bought at an aution
in London. Seba has two figures of it;
fee his Natural Hiflory, vol. II. tab. LXI.
No. 3 and 4-
E, the Crab, was brought from the
Cape of Good Hope, and is now preferved
in the curious and valuable colleftion of
my obliging friend John Fothergill, M. D.
who lent it me to take a drawing of it.
This Crab hath not, I believe, been before
defcribed.

The Small MUD-TORTOIS-E.
ERE are three views of this Tortoife
of their natural fize, all drawn and
etched on the copper-plate immediately
-from life.
The head, all round the jaws and eyes,
is of a reddifli-yellow colour: the top of
,the head, throat, and neck, is dufky:
the fore feet have each of them five toes
with (harp nails; the hinder feet have only
four. I take this Tortoife to be of the
amphibious kind, it having fin-like ap-
pendages to all the feet: the legs and feet

Rumphius en a donne' la figure. Ce qu'il en
dit me fait croire qu'elle fe trouve dans les
i/les des Indes Orientales I. La mienne a ete
achete'e a' une vendue a' Londres 1.

Al. 7ean Fothergill, Medecin, qui me l'a pre-
te'e pour la definer. Ye ne crois pas que
cette Crabe ait encore ite' de'crite'.

La Petite TORTUE de MARECAGE.

grandeur naturelle, ayant ete' toutes trois
dejfinees et grave'es fir la planche, d'apres
le fJujet meime.
La tlte, autour des machoires et des yeux,
eJ/l d'un jaune rougedtre: le haut de la tete,
de ineime que la gorge et le cou, eJI brun: les
pieds de d-c'ant ont chacun cinq orteils, avec
des ongles pointus ; ceux de derriere n'en ont
que quatre. Cette Tortut me paroit Itre dze
genre amphibie, ayannt a' tous les pie,*
des exereflences femnblables a' des nzecoiresz
