gradually becomes red, where it is pretty
thick, and grooved or furrowed as the figure
reprefents.  I take this Bill to be very rare,
as I have not feen a fecond of it; and I be-
lieve this to be the firfi figure of it that was
ever publifhed.

The Spur-Fifh;

The Indian Gattorugina.
T   H ES E Fifhes are here figured of
Ttheir natural bignefs, and have, I be-
lieve, neither of them been figured or de-
fcribed till now.
The larger Fifh I call the Spur-filh, from
the two odd peatinated fharp-pointed bones
or fpurs on its upper and under fides. After
having foaked the dry Fifh in water, to
reflore it in fome meafure to the colour it
was of when living, it appeared almoft of
the colour of a herring, viz. of a greenifli
colour along the back, and a blueilh purple
white on the under fide: the fpurs, while
the Fifh was wet, might be raifed perpen-
dicular to the lines of the back and belly,
