Josiah La Follette, father of Robert M. La Follette, a Wisconsin pioneer farmer, died eight months after his son was born. He held the office of town clerk for two terms in Primrose, Wisconsin and held the office of assessor when he died in 1855. Though not remembering his father, Robert M. La Follette was deeply influenced by his legend according to Belle Case La Follette's biography of him.
