Wood County Teachers College (Wis.): Records, 1903-1965

Scope and Content Note

Actions of the joint school boards are recorded in the brief minutes kept by the Secretary. They deal largely with employee contracts, building maintenance, and budget submissions to the County Board. More detailed documentation is found in the Secretary's subject and correspondence files, boxes 2-4. The annual and preliminary reports, and budgets in this file provide general information about school operations. The file “Lone Pine Elementary School Controversy, 1962-1963” documents the difficulties of the County Teachers College in supporting a laboratory school and in cooperating with the Wisconsin Rapids School District. This file, and the one titled “Discontinuance of Wood County College, 1964-1965,” deal with the problem of re-organizing higher education and teacher training in the region.
