The papers consist of personal and biographical papers, correspondence, and research and writing files. In addition, there are papers of Lapham's daughter Julia A. Lapham, consisting of correspondence, a draft biography, transcribed copies of her father's correspondence, and scrapbooks concerning Milwaukee events that honored him such as the Lapham Centennial and the naming of Lapham Park.
