Writers Guild of America, West: Records, 1943-1962

Biography/History

The Writers Guild of America, West, a labor union for motion picture, television, and radio writers, was founded in 1954 by the merger of the Screen Writers Guild and the Radio Writers Guild. The union represents its members in collective bargaining and other labor matters and also works for the improvement of copyright legislation and copyright relations between the United States and foreign countries. It is affiliated with the Writers Guild of America, East.
