Series: 1. Correspondence, 1927-2009
Scope and Content Note: This series is comprised largely of incoming correspondence, with the bulk of the material dating from 1967, when Liddy moved to the United States, to 2008. It shows his relationships with family and friends, other poets and writers, and former students who became friends, as well as some of the business side of Liddy's work. Liddy used some of the early third-party and family letters for his memoirs. The folders labeled "Unopened and Unsent Letters" contain letters that were either received by Liddy but never opened or written by Liddy and never sent. Sealed envelopes were opened by the archivist during processing. The correspondence is organized by surname, then chronologically. A brief note about the sender or recipient is provided.

Scope and Content Note: This series contains a variety of materials, such as some of Liddy's UWM teaching materials, articles, photographs, videos, and other miscellaneous personal effects. Liddy used some of these items in writing his memoirs as well. There are also promotional materials used for advertising Liddy's new publications or upcoming readings by Liddy. Some of the articles and photographs were most likely sent to Liddy in correspondence, but became separated from the original letter before coming to the archives. One of the videos contains an interview with Liddy and the other is of a poetry reading.
