Abstract:

Files of Gerald D. Kleczka, a Democrat from Milwaukee, who served in the Wisconsin State Assembly (1968-1972), Wisconsin State Senate (1974-1984), and United States House of Representatives (1984-2004), representing Wisconsin's 4th congressional district, which includes the city of Milwaukee. The bulk of the material represents his tenure as a U.S. Representative. Files consist mainly of committee files, legislative and bill files, correspondence, and press. Prominent legislative topics include those related to the Committee on Financial Services (House Banking Committee) and the Ways and Means committee, particularly issues relating to housing, health, social security, and supplemental security income.
