Scope and Content Note

The most comprehensive documentation of the town government is found in the proceedings of town supervisors and town meetings, found in the town board minutes. The proceedings cover the years 1867-1888, 1934-1939, and 1963-1999. Proceedings are also found in the clerk's record books, 1853-1885, 1906-1938, and 1955-1965. In addition the clerk's record books contain a register of town officers, oaths of town officers and the town constable, town treasurer's bonds, liquor sellers' bonds, treasurer's records, chattel mortgage records, apportionment of school funds, and financial reports of the town board.

Election records contain a list of voters, names and oaths of inspectors, statement of votes (number of votes received by candidates for various town offices), and certificates of election stating the winner's name.

The Treasurer's record book contains accounts of money received and disbursed, orders issued, and town clerk's bonds.

The highway record book contains proceedings from the town Board of Supervisors meetings pertaining to roads, a register of the overseer of highways that notes name and date elected or appointed, highway tax list, and road district map.

The Woodville Chilton Drainage Board meeting minutes pertain to the building of the Chilton-Woodville drain. The board consisted of the town supervisors of Woodville, Chilton, and Stockbridge.
