Founded in 1971 and incorporated in 1977, the Milwaukee Indian Education Committee consists
of voting delegates from each of Milwaukee's Indian-related educational agencies. The MIEC
is a non-profit organization that remains actively involved in community projects. The MIEC
assesses educational needs, develops community education and training workshops, offers
scholarships, and holds an annual career event and graduation celebration. MIEC is also a
regional organization of the Wisconsin Indian Education Association.
