Mark Avery graduated from the Milwaukee Area Technical College's photography program in
1975. He began his work in theatre photography in 1974 with Theatre X in Milwaukee. From
1976 to 1994, Mr. Avery served as the staff photographer for the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre
Company. He was also the principle photographer of Milwaukee's Florentine Opera from 1980 to
1994. Between 1980 and 1994, Mr. Avery worked extensively with other theater organizations
such as the Northernlight Theater in Chicago, Friends Mime Theater, Skylight Comic Opera,
and the American Players Theater in Spring Green, Wisconsin. As of this writing, he works as
a free-lance photographer through his Milwaukee business, Mark Avery Photography.
