Papers are exclusively related to Grigsby's time in office and include notes, correspondence, legislative committee meeting minutes and agendas, research, and subject files. Files related to the 2009-2011 Wisconsin State Budget make up the bulk of the collection. Grigsby's participation in the Joint Finance Committee is also heavily represented.

Abstract: Papers of Tammy Baldwin, Democratic Senator from Wisconsin (2013-) and Congresswoman from Wisconsin's 2nd Congressional district (1999-2013), documenting her early political career through her tenure in the Wisconsin State Assembly. A native of Madison, Wisconsin, Baldwin began her political career in 1986 with her election to the Dane County Board of Supervisors. She was elected in 1992 to the Wisconsin State Assembly representing the 78th Assembly district, in 1998 she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as the first congresswoman from Wisconsin, and then in 2012 was elected to the U.S. Senate as the first woman senator from Wisconsin and first openly gay senator to the U.S. Senate. The papers focus primarily on proposed legislation in the Wisconsin State Assembly concerning same-sex partnerships and document Baldwin's involvement in issues such as Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual (GLB) civil rights, gays in the military, adoption by same-sex partners, GLB rights at the University of Wisconsin, and opposition by the Religious Right. Included in the collection is correspondence, proposed legislation including drafts and notes and work group documents, media clippings, press releases, legal cases, and subject files.
