Included are letters which describe agricultural life in the Los Angeles area in 1892, early twentieth-century life in the state of Washington, the Seattle harbor, and the Oregon and Washington Indian wars. There is also material relating to school experiences of the Strahl family, including essays, speeches, and class notes, (circa 1845-1858); three land certificates (1854-1855); and reminiscences by Strahl of Pierce County settlers. |

(14 archives boxes) Call Number: Winnebago Series 68 Abstract: Dated primarily between 1930-1955, the records include papers of the board of public works, 1927-1951, the board of review, 1934-1957, the cemetery committee, 1926-1951, the election commission, 1945-1952, the emergency relief administration, 1934, city ordinances 1919-1953, the park board 1937-1951, and resolutions of the common council, 1933-1954. There is also general correspondence of the city clerk, 1933-1955, which pertains to a variety of functions performed by the clerk as officer of record, secretary to the common council, and administrative officer for the city. It should be noted that the files of the boards of public works and review and the election and cemetery commissions contain a wider variety of papers which board and commission members received in their capacities as city department heads and city council members. |

Included are minutes and other records dealing with the company's establishment and its predecessor companies, the oldest of which dated to 1864; executive correspondence of members of the Schwalm, Kuenzl, and Glatz families who controlled the company for three generations and of David V. Uihlein who purchased a majority share in 1961; advertising and promotional material; and financial records, floor plans of the brewery, product labels, and union contracts. Also present are records from the Oshkosh Colytic Egg and Storage Company operated by the brewery. Information is included on the soft drink and malt syrup production of the Prohibition era; responses to competition experienced during its final years; and relations with the Brewers Association of America, the U.S. Brewers Association, the Wisconsin State Brewers Association, and Associated Industries of Oshkosh. Also includes a few product labels. |
