Abstract: Olaf A. Holmlund was born in Hamar, Norway, and immigrated to the United States in 1904. He settled in West Salem, Wis., and then moved to Bangor, Wis., in 1918. He was a businessman with many talents, but was best known for his funeral home business that he operated from circa 1918-1945. He sold his business to C. A. Fossum undertakers. A few biographical articles about Holmlund are included in the collection along with a scrapbook of Bangor news clippings (circa 1931-1945) that is thought to have originally been kept by Archie A. Wolf. However, most of the materials are records related to the Holmlund Funeral Home business and include an account book (circa 1924-1933); a collection report book (1936-1938); and a record of funerals (1940-1945).

Abstract: Photographs, historical materials, and book project information related to Old Abe the Civil War eagle who went to war with Company C of the 8th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment and then lived in the Capitol as a patriotic symbol after the war. Included are writings about Old Abe, both research-based and as stories for children, and educational materials related to Abe. There are also early accounts of the bird compiled by members of the Grand Army of the Republic, information about the McCann family who originally owned Old Abe, and souvenir items related to the eagle. Files related to the book, Old Abe the War Eagle: a True Story of the Civil War and Reconstruction authored by Dr. Richard Zeitlin are included with this collection. These files include research, photo orders, book drafts, and correspondence about the book's production. Of note, are Zeitlin's bibliography of published sources and his research notes. An educational film strip with audio cassette narration and a video of the dedication of the Old Abe Memorial in Jim Falls (Wisconsin) are also included. Photographs found in this collection include perched views of Old Abe, charcoal drawings, color representations, a “beak-autographed” carte de visite, and images planned for use in Zeitlin's book.

Abstract: A collection of oral history interviews of 11 individuals, conducted by Ruby West Jackson and Walter T. McDonald for Old World Wisconsin. The interviews were carried out in 1998 as part of the museum's research into African American settlement in Wisconsin, specifically Pleasant Ridge, a farming community in Grant County.

Abstract: Six of six episodes of Oldsmobile Music Theatre, a 30-minute dramatic anthology series in which most of the presentations were musicals. The series consisted of only six episodes, which ran from March 26, 1959 to May 7, 1959. The title credits changed during the run of the series from Oldsmobile Music Theatre to Oldsmobile Theatre to Oldsmobile Presents. The executive producer was David Susskind and the producer, Jacqueline Babbin. Hosts were Bill Hayes and Florence Henderson. All episodes include commercials for Oldsmobile. The films are 16 mm kinescopes in black and white with sound.

Abstract: This collection is comprised of copies of essays and addresses, newspaper clippings, and letters to and from Olympia Brown from 1854 to 1911. Brown was the first fully ordained and denominationally recognized female minister and held positions in Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Wisconsin. She was also very active in women's rights, helping to form or hold office in the New England Women's Suffrage Association, National Woman Suffrage Association, Wisconsin Woman's Suffrage Association, and Federal Suffrage Association. These records were compiled by Dr. Charlotte Coté, Professor of American Indian studies at the University of Washington. They were used for her research in writing the biography Olympia Brown: The Battle for Equality.
